The allocation process will give first priority to farmers who have lost their land to the project. As a top priority, 40% of the sites in the layout will be allocated to them. The site will be allocated to them on their own land which they will divide for the project. If land cannot be provided on the same land, BDA will ensure allotment within the same village. Approximately 9,500 pieces of land will be given to land losers. There are approximately 4,750 corner sites and, in accordance with the law, these sites will be put up for electronic auction. The remaining 10,000 sites will be allocated to the public.
PRR renamed Bangalore Business Corridor
Currently, the Peripheral Ring Road project has been renamed as Bengaluru Business Corridor and there will be no indication of the acquired land. Mr. Shivakumar said there have been demands from farmers to identify their land, but this will not be done as the project will be of greater benefit to the city.
The BDA has decided not to display acquired land in any project, not just the Bangalore Business Corridor. Shivakumar announced that international tenders will be floated for the project next week. He also said that in connection with the Bangalore Business Corridor, BDA has confidence in farmers regarding compensation. The BDA cited an SC order in which the development authority persuaded the farmer that he could not provide more compensation than provided in the BDA Act.
