Best AI gadget ever
To understand how widespread this AI dominance in the consumer technology space is, I've been reviewing some of the best AI gadgets of all time.
AI-powered bird feeder
Bird Buddy is a bird feeder with a difference. Uses artificial intelligence to identify what types of birds are visiting. It's linked to the app, so if you're not entirely sure which birds are feeding that day, you'll see a list of options.
Bird Buddy can also provide a live video feed using the camera inside the feeder, so you can observe for yourself and save clips and images of visiting birds.
The base model costs $239, which is a lot for a bird feeder with a built-in smart doorbell, and if you don't want to charge it every week, you'll need a solar panel roof for an additional $299.
Despite the cost, our reviewers liked Bird Buddy in part because of the ongoing subscription fee and lack of high-quality video.
Flappie Cat Flap with AI
Flappie is the latest in smart pet technology powered by AI vision. The device is equipped with motion sensors and AI vision technology to detect when your feline friend tries to bring small animals into your home.
The Swiss startup says that while its AI-powered cat door is not perfect in all cases, it can accurately identify whether a pet is holding prey in at least 90% of cases.
When Flappie's AI detects a “gift”, it locks the door and won't let the cat in until it drops the prey. The goal, the company says, is to teach cats not to bring the creatures into the home.
One of the founders admitted that it's possible that a clever cat might drop a mouse, open the door, pick it up and run away, but overall it should work.
It can also detect microchips and make sure your cat only opens up to certain pets. After an initial rollout in Europe, it is expected to launch in the US later this year.
LG's home patrol AI robot
LG's Zero Labor Home robot, announced before the event, is a small device that uses AI vision technology to monitor pets and home appliances.
It patrols the house for any problems, fixes what it can fix, fixes what it can't, and the cute little gadget reports any problems to its owner.
LG claims it can also read human emotions and monitor your home environment, taking into account temperature, humidity and air quality to ensure everything is as efficient as possible.
The bot can also recognize your face and voice and greet you at the door when you get home. It is also a security patroller, a butler, and can also manage and control smart appliances.
Samsung's home robot “Bally”
Samsung's new Ballie robot is evidence of Samsung's commitment to going “all in” on AI at CES 2024. This rotating robot has a built-in projector that can display content while rotating.
Ballie's advanced AI not only greets you at the door, but also comes to pick you up when you call. And if you ask, you can project the content.
It has built-in front and rear cameras to detect and analyze your surroundings, and can also automate various functions by learning recurring user patterns.
AI-powered lights for gaming sessions
Smart lighting is not new. LED strips that can react to the environment and light bulbs linked to Alexa have been around for a while. This year at his CES, there will be upgrades due to advancements in generative and vision AI.
Govee is one of the companies involved in AI lighting and announced the upgraded Gaming Sync Box Kit 2 and Neon Rope Light 2 at CES 2024.
CogniGlow algorithms linked to your gaming PC or console react to what's happening in-game and adjust the lighting for a more immersive experience.
lighting that monitors mood
Nobi has launched a smart ceiling lamp that uses AI vision technology to detect and prevent falls, monitor health status, and even track activity patterns.
It is pitched as a tool for the senior living and mobility markets and is expected to be available in the U.S. this year.
Lepro also announced a new suite of AI-powered home lighting products that use natural language processing to analyze voice commands and adjust lighting based on demand, rather than setting the color tone in an app.
It can also use facial recognition to analyze a user's emotional state and change the lighting to match their mood.
Anti-snoring smart pillow
Motion Pillow has been upgraded to wireless. This is a health technology device that claims to improve your sleep and combat snoring.
The AI-powered pillow includes a wireless device that monitors sleep sounds, detects snoring, and deploys an airbag within the pillow to reposition the user's head.
The company says the ability to move your head improves airflow and eliminates nasal obstruction without disrupting your sleep.
The Motion Pillow normally costs $699, which is a lot for a pillow and soundbox. Currently, during CES 2024, Save $420 on the Motion Pillow website.
A smart mirror that uplifts your mood
Baracoda BMind is an AI-powered smart mirror that not only lets you know when you really are the fairest, but also improves your mood at the same time.
Using natural language processing, you can analyze the emotions of the person staring at your reflection and provide positive words and visuals to boost their mood.
BMind's AI looks at your facial expressions, gestures, and tone of voice and adapts to what it thinks is your mood. We can then offer light therapy sessions or guided meditation sessions to manage stress.
