The new 15-turn, 2.585km circuit was created with the aim of providing a better race for the faster and more powerful Gen3 cars currently used in Formula E.
Tempelhof Airport has been the venue for the Berlin E-Prix since the all-electric championship began in 2014, and has been the venue for the Berlin E-Prix since the creation of the Karl Marx Allee street circuit in the 2015-16 season. All races except one are being held.
The Tempelhof venue infamously hosted six races during the 2019-20 season in the immediate aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, but some changes have been made to the layout to add variety. and the configuration was reversed.

The new circuit has two prominent straights, one along the start/finish and one at the end of the lap consisting of five left-hand kinks, with two hairpins in the center of the circuit.

The changes require FIA approval and the double header is scheduled to take place on May 11th and 12th.

The 2023-24 season is scheduled to kick off in Mexico City on January 13, with a 17-race season at 11 venues, and conclude with a double-header at London's Excel Arena on July 20-21.
