GTA 6's controller layout has been revealed via gameplay leak, and fans are excited about the new features coming to the series.
It's been more than a decade since the last Grand Theft Auto game was released, but GTA VI has a lot of catching up to do to take the series' gameplay to new heights.
A 2022 gameplay leak revealed quite a bit about the game before Rockstar officially announced GTA 6, giving players a glimpse of Vice City, a new protagonist, and even the controls. .

Players can determine exactly what each button does based on the footage, and while there are some predictable button layouts, new features are also introduced.

As X users have shown, GTA 6 has a lot of new options available for on-foot gameplay apart from GTA 5.
Note that you can crouch again by tapping L3, but you can also hold L3 and go prone. This should come in handy during intense gunfights, hiding from the police, and even stealth missions.

R3 allows you to switch weapon grips while still using the thumbstick button. It's not yet clear what this means, but it may have more applications in aiming while driving.
Triangle/Y, on the other hand, is used to pick up items, so expect to see more non-weapon gameplay mechanics in the next GTA experience.

In particular, R1 does not have any form of function. In GTA 5, this allowed players to snap into cover, but it looks like GTA 6 will utilize an automatic cover system.

It's unlikely that Rockstar will leave R1 vacant, so it will be very interesting to see what new features the developers have in store.
Finally, the PlayStation's Square and the Xbox's X, which were used to jump and dive in GTA 5, are also missing. Once again, this raises some eyebrows as to what the developers are planning.
Fans are very excited about this change, with many happy that Rockstar seems to be adding a long-requested feature.

“Crouching is much more convenient than switching weapon grips…and you should see some as-yet-unlabeled D-Pad buttons peeking left and right around the corner.” There's a chime.
Of course, it's possible that something has changed since the leak, and Rockstar may have revamped GTA 6's controls since then, but at least we have the game in VI ahead of its 2025 release. Have ideas on how play could be improved.
