Whether you're working with an international client or just want to impress a friend, you're likely to come across a situation where you need to type in another language. Fortunately, Windows 11 makes it easy to move between keyboard layouts and type in your desired language.
How to change keyboard language
During the Windows 11 setup process, you will be asked to select your preferred keyboard language. This will be your computer's default language. However, you can easily install and switch additional keyboard languages using the Windows Settings app.
To add a keyboard language, press Windows + i to open the Settings app (there are other ways to start the Settings app in Windows).
Select Time & Language from the left sidebar, then click Language & Region in the right pane.
Click the Add Language button.
Select the language you want to install and click the “Next” button.
Click “Install” to start the installation process.
Once a language is installed, it will be listed under the Languages section. Then click the language icon on the taskbar and select the language you want to use.
Alternatively, you can switch the language on your Windows computer by pressing the Windows key and Spacebar or Alt and Shift keys at the same time.
How to change the keyboard layout
Different languages have different keyboard layouts, which are automatically installed when you install the language. However, a language's default layout is not always the best option.
In this case, you can choose from the different layouts available for your language and install the one that best suits your typing habits. To install a different layout for your language, open the Settings app and go to Time & language > Language & region.
Click the three dots next to your language and choose[言語オプション]Choose.
Click the Add Keyboard button next to Installed Keyboards.
Select your preferred layout and install. You can use the onscreen keyboard to see how the layout you choose will work on your computer.
Once you have completed your layout, you can delete other keyboard layouts for that language.
How to remove a keyboard language or layout
If you no longer use a language on your computer, you can delete it to avoid accidentally switching to it. To remove the keyboard language, launch the Settings app,[時刻と言語]>[言語と地域]Proceed to
Click the three dots next to the language you want to remove, and from the menu that appears, choose[削除]Choose.
You will be prompted to confirm that you want to remove the selected language. Click Yes to confirm.
That's all! The selected language has been removed from your computer.
As mentioned earlier, a language can have multiple keyboard layouts. If you don't like a particular layout for the language you're using, you can remove it.To do this, click the three dots next to the language you want to remove the layout from and from the menu select[言語オプション]Choose.
[キーボード]section, click the three dots next to the layout you want to delete, and from the menu that appears, choose[削除]Choose.
If you want to remove multiple keyboard layouts, repeat the above process for each layout you want to remove.
