Snap layouts make it easy to multitask by running multiple programs at the same time. This is enabled by default for all users, and you can change the app window layout by hovering over the maximize option. However, if snap layout doesn't work, you can try the following:
1. Switch snap layouts with keyboard shortcuts
An easy way to use snap layouts is to use keyboard shortcuts. Press win key followed by any arrow key depending on your layout settings.
for example, Victory + Right Arrow Press the key to split the screen and move the active window to the right. Similarly, use the left, up, and down arrow keys for different layouts.
If keyboard shortcuts don't work, check your multitasking settings to make sure the feature is enabled. This feature is enabled by default, but make sure Snap Layout isn't disabled in the Settings app.
2. Enable Snap Layout using Registry Editor
If enabling Snap Layout from the Settings app doesn't work, you can force it to be enabled in Windows 11 by adjusting the registry entry associated with File Explorer.

Close the Registry Editor and restart your computer. After restarting, snap layouts will start working again.
3. Check system and app-specific limits
In some cases, limitations in certain apps may be the cause of the issue. For example, some apps may not support resizing windows to layouts supported by Windows. Developers can choose to provide a built-in container for resizing the app window to provide the best experience. To isolate the issue, try snapping windows from different apps to see if the issue is isolated to a specific app.
Additionally, check if your system meets the minimum requirements for installing Windows 11. You can install Windows 11 on incompatible hardware, but you may not be able to use all features, including snap layouts.
4. Check for third-party app conflicts
Some third-party apps, such as PowerToys, allow you to customize the layout of the app window. Using such apps to manage layouts may conflict with the built-in Snap Layout feature.
To resolve this issue, turn off PowerToys' FancyZone feature and third-party apps such as AquaSnap and check for improvement. If the issue is resolved automatically, you should remove the app to resolve the issue.
5. Use third-party Snap Layout alternatives
Fortunately, there are some third-party alternatives to Snap Layouts in Windows 11. One is Microsoft's own PowerToys. It comes with the Fancy Zone feature that allows you to create custom snap layouts in Windows 11.
Additionally, you can customize the window layout using third-party alternatives such as AquaSnap, DisplayFusion, and MaxTo. Some of these apps are free, but others may require purchase to work.
