It may seem like a long time until the iPhone 16 launches, but the next Apple flagship series could arrive as early as seven months away – and leaks of new components hint at what could be coming to the rear camera. A module where you can get ideas for a certain redesign.
Circuit diagram obtained by tipster Majinbu (From MacRumors) It shows that the two camera lenses are aligned vertically, which is different from the diagonal alignment of the iPhone 15 and other recent models.
In fact, this vertical stacking approach dates back to the iPhone 12, which was released in 2020. Of course, Pro models (including the iPhone 15 Pro) come with an additional lens, so they already use some kind of vertical alignment.
This redesign didn't come out of nowhere. There's more evidence that this is Apple's direction, as we've already seen this old and new camera setup in leaked renders released earlier this month.
Since the vertical position can be confirmed, this seems to be a new camera module for iPhone 16 pic.twitter.com/JWF5olGwQ4February 16, 2024
Rumors so far
iPhone 16 rumors are starting to pick up steam in earnest. Both the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro Max are rumored to have larger batteries, but the iPhone 16 Plus' built-in battery is said to have a smaller capacity.
Of course, we expect performance improvements under the hood of the phone, but that's what the rumors are pointing to. We're also hearing about a new capture button that gives you even more flexibility when taking photos and videos.
Then there's also the software aspect. You should expect to hear more about iOS 18 in the coming months. And in line with the hottest trend right now, iOS 18 is said to bring a number of artificial intelligence upgrades to his iPhone series.
We're sure to see more leaks and rumors about the iPhone 16 series as we approach September, when Apple traditionally launches new iPhones, but we wouldn't be surprised to see more information about this updated camera module design.
