Leandro Juncos, the son of Juncos Hollinger Racing Team co-owner Ricardo Juncos, is the latest multi-generational driving talent to join America's junior open-wheel driver ladder.
The 18-year-old Miami, Florida native continues the Argentinian family tradition in the USF Junior category of the USF Championship, the introductory class that leads to USF2000 and Indy Pro 2000.
“I'm very excited. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to fulfill and carry on my family's legacy,” Juncos said. “My great-grandfather was a motorcycle racer, my grandfather was in the National Tourist Board, and my father was in Formula Renault and Sport Prototipo.
“Now it's my turn to show my Juncos pedigree. This is a dream I've always had. The world of motorsport is in my DNA.”
The Juncos, whose father competes in IndyCar's Indy NXT series, are part of a strong team that won the 2023 USF Junior title with Nicolas Jaffon, another multi-generational driver whose father Felipe raced in IndyCar. He will be driving for a certain DEForce team.
He solidified his interest in participating in the USF Championship after seeing the JHR team run an IndyCar demonstration run in late 2022.
“I was participating in the TC race in Argentina, which made me even more determined to race,” Juncos said. “When I saw the JHR Chevrolet, the adrenaline and passion of the fans made me decide to give it a try.”
