“He was so great. He was such a great advocate,” President Trump told Fox News' Laura Ingraham during a town hall event Tuesday night. “He's been much better to me than he has been to himself. I've been watching his campaign, and he doesn't like to talk about himself, but does he talk about Trump?”
Scott ran against Trump for the Republican presidential nomination, but withdrew from the race in November. He then heavily disparaged former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and endorsed Trump days before last month's New Hampshire primary.
The Palmetto state senator was in attendance with President Trump at the Fox News town hall in Greenville. He is scheduled to join Trump on another tour of South Carolina on Friday.
Other running mate candidates include former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy and Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.), who also appeared in South Carolina early Tuesday. Rep. Byron Donald (R-Florida), former Democratic Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, and Gov. Kristi Noem (R-South Dakota) also confirmed Tuesday that Trump is one of their running mate candidates.
