Share San Diego photos and videos on the CBS 8 News app and apps near you.

SAN DIEGO — Have you ever seen something, taken a photo, and thought it would be great for San Diego news? Share it with CBS 8 through our free mobile app, available on both Apple and Android devices. I would like to have it.

If you're out and about and see something you think is newsworthy, take a photo, open the CBS 8 app and share it with us. Are there any great sunsets in your neighborhood? Do you have a photo from Balboa Park that shows San Diego at its best? Or witnessed a fire in your neighborhood? Please share it through the app.

The CBS 8 app is available for free download from the Apple iOS Store and the Google Play Store for Android.

1. Open the CBS 8 app on your smartphone
2. You will see a button in the bottom right corner that says “Nearby”, click on it.
3. Click the orange button labeled “Share with Us” at the top left of the screen.
4. Upload photos and videos directly from your device. You can upload up to 3 photos or 1 video at a time.
5. Fill in the fields. Please enter a title, credit, email address, and tell us where the photo was taken.
6. All submissions will be reviewed and, once approved, will be displayed in a nearby section of the app.

2. You will see a button in the bottom right corner that says “Nearby”, click on it.
3. A map will pop up and you can zoom in or out to find CBS 8 stories as well as photos and videos posted by others.
4. A black pin means it's from CBS 8, and an orange pin means it was shared by someone in our community, like you, through our Near Me feature.
5. You can also search for a specific location using the search bar at the bottom. For example, if you type “Escondido,” we'll automatically show you photos and stories from that area.
6. You can also use filters to choose which topics to display and which topics are more recent.

Meteorologists and anchors will select some photos and videos to feature on the news program, so stay tuned for live shout-outs! Below is an example of a weather photo.
