Apple Watch has established a strong position in the market by introducing new features that save lives. One of the features found in the Apple Watch, and one that could save hundreds of lives, is fall detection. The company introduced this feature to Apple Watch in 2018 with the launch of Apple Watch Series 4. Since its launch, it has always attracted attention for its amazing features.
Recently, we have once again proven why this feature is so special. Recently, Apple Watch users shared their experiences using the device. The 82-year-old has told the story of how his life was saved after being hit by a car in the UK. According to a report from Apple Insider, the old man received an Apple Watch as a Christmas present, which helped him in his life-saving ordeal.
How did Apple Watch save a man's life?
The incident occurred on January 19, 2019, when Tony Jancey was crossing the road at a roundabout in Kidderminster, England. Jhansi was hit by a car in the wrong direction. The impact of the collision broke the man's collarbone, cracked his ribs and left him bruised. Immediately after the collision, the man's Apple Watch alerted emergency services.
Speaking about the incident, Mr Jansi said: “I was walking back to my car, which was parked at Aldi, and was crossing the road when I felt a thud.'' He continued, “The next thing I saw was the bumper of the car in front of me…I was lying on the road, unable to move.”
He recalled how the watch detected the fall and asked if he wanted to call emergency services at that point. He left the alarm unchanged, after which the watch automatically called authorities. He said the man could have deactivated the alarm if he didn't need immediate help.
