Whitbread buys site for future Premier Inn hotel development in Manchester city center
Whitbread PLC, the UK's largest hotel operator and owner of Premier Inn, has purchased a consented hotel development site on the edge of Manchester's Northern Quarter from Premcor.
The Rochdale Road acquisition, which has planning permission for a 10-storey, 229-bedroom hotel, is part of Whitbread's strategy to reconfigure its Manchester city center hotel network.
With the acquisition complete, Whitbread will appoint GMI Construction Group to build the Premier Inn branded hotel, with construction work expected to begin in summer 2024.

Whitbread is set to deliver planning consent for a hotel building that will combine Premier Inn standard bedrooms with enhanced Premier Plus rooms. An integrated restaurant, bar and check-in area is located on his ground floor.
Whitbread's recent development activity in central Manchester has taken place to the south and west of the city centre.
