A lot of speculative details about the iPhone 16 series are pouring in on the internet. We recently reported that standard iPhone 16 models could come with color-infused glass backs, similar to non-Pro iPhone 15 models. Now, according to the latest leak, the MagSafe charger magnet on the back of the upcoming iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models could be a little slimmer.
A purported case manufacturing mold for the iPhone 16 series has been published online, courtesy of ShopSystem. Besides showing the back design of the iPhone 16 model, which has already been confirmed in previous leaks, these molds also reveal one important detail. That means the MagSafe charging adjustment ring could get slimmer this year.
When the case manufacturing molds for both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro are placed side by side in the image, it is clear that the iPhone 16 Pro's MagSafe charging attachment ring magnet is thinner than the iPhone 15's. Pro. Let's take a look at the images lined up here.
If this report turns out to be true, manufacturers of MagSafe accessories will have to start from scratch to adapt their products to the new system. This change also suggests that Apple is minimizing the amount of magnetic material it uses in its iPhone 16 lineup.
Another important thing to note, as highlighted by ShopSystem, is that while the thickness of the MagSafe charging attachment ring is said to be thinner, there isn't much that has changed other than the thickness, so the older MagSafe will continue to work with the new model. The position of the magnet does not change.
The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus molds also correlate with previous leaks that these models will feature a vertical camera module. Apple is also rumored to be working on technology to reduce lens flare when shooting video. There are also rumors that the iPhone 16 series will be equipped with a dedicated camera shutter button.
